The original models were introduced with a 40 mm steel case and gradually enriched with different dial variations. This week, however, Citizen comes with its most significant update yet - a new 37 mm case. The smaller size brings a completely different feel to the wrist and opens up the collection to a wider range of users, which is a welcome change. With the arrival of spring, the dials remain fresh and vibrant, underlining the playful nature of this collection.
The inspiration for the name Tsuyosa was the Japanese word for strength, which Citizen says symbolizes versatility and durability. These values are reflected in the sophisticated design of the watches, which perfectly combine aesthetics with functionality. The new models come in three attractive dial colours: ice blue, pastel pink and dark green. These colours not only catch the eye, but also give the watch a modern and fresh look.
In addition to the striking dials, other details that elevate this minimalist design to the next level are also eye-catching. One of them is the use of a date magnifier on the glass, which improves legibility, even though it can be perceived as a controversial element that disturbs the purity of the design. Fortunately, this feature can easily be removed to suit personal preference. Another interesting feature is the placement of the crown at the 4:30 position, which contributes to a sleeker look and makes for a more comfortable fit. This detail was already popular in the original version and now returns in a smaller version.
However, the star of the new Tsuyos collection is the case itself and its integrated bracelet. For its price range, the watch offers a surprisingly high level of craftsmanship, making it an ideal choice for everyday wear. The three-link bracelet seamlessly follows the sloping lines of the case, while the middle link is articulated, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. The finish of the case combines brushed surfaces with polished bevelled edges, defining an almost pillow-like shape that is still modern and elegant.
The new 37mm size, with a thickness of just 11.5mm, retains all the charm of the original design while bringing greater versatility. Inside the watch ticks the Citizen 8210 automatic calibre, which is visible through the transparent caseback.
