IRON ANNIE Bauhaus 5018-2 – The German Jewel
The POINTtec family business now has a successful 30-year history of the company. On the occasion of this anniversary, this German manufacturer introduced a brand new watch brand. The collection is dedicated to the machine of the same name JUNKERS JU-52 with the registration number D-AQUI, which the Americans gave the name Iron Annie. Like this legendary aircraft, the IRON ANNIE watch is characterized by robustness, technical sophistication and exceptional design.
The IRON ANNIE 5018-2 from the IRON ANNIE Bauhaus series is an automatic watch equipped with an ETA Valjoux 7750 with 25 stones. This dial has a large display of date and day of the week as well as a chronograph function. The black dial with pink-gold indexes gives the classic Bauhaus watch a particularly elegant touch. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 42 mm and is waterproof up to 5 ATM. Leather belt with decorative seam ensures optimal wearing comfort.
Even when unpacking the watch, we were excited by the black case with a high gloss lacquered surface. At first glance, we liked the black dial with fine details, which in their pink-gold color nicely contrast with the dark color around and with a dark brown leather strap creates an overall harmonious picture. A very pleasant leather strap is made of Italian calf leather and hand sieved. Comfort of wearing convinced us. It would suit us a slightly larger diameter of the case, 42mm we seemed little but it is our personal opinion.
In terms of functions, this timepiece offers a classic chronograph with a 30-minute display and a 12-hour counter, a date and day of the week display, as well as a small second and a 12-hour stopwatch. The power reserve is 48 hours.
Very good, almost a collector's watch with pure "Bauhaus" design, robust case, verified by Swiss movement ETA Valjoux 7750 convinced us due to the price tag, which should be set just below 1500 Euro. Not surprisingly, the manufacturer POINTtec, for his achievement, has won the prestigious German Brands Award 2019.
