For the second year, AVI-8 is proud to partner with and support the Tuskegee Airmen Inc (TAI) in producing a limited edition watch that commemorates, memorializes and reflects the Tuskegee experience.

10% of the net sales of each watch sold goes to the important work of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. supporting youth programs and providing educational assistance to those pursuing flight training and other higher education.

The important story and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen is one of bravery, skill and courage under fire in the air and on the ground. Their contributions to the advancement of American aviation and American history must not be forgotten. This limited edition of only 1,195 pieces is a one-of-a-kind, not to be missed.

Specialised design and detail

Each watch is perfectly proportioned, solidly built, with clear legible lines and readable lines to ensure it is always a wearable timepiece that is no less important and significant for its provenance. The watch is powered by a precision hybrid mekaquartz Japanese Seiko TMI movement that commands functionality and utility without compromise.

They were told they were inferior. They didn't believe they could operate modern fighters and succeed. But with their experience and courage, the black pilots disproved racist notions and became World War II legends The Tuskegee Airmen, as they were nicknamed after their training site, paved the way for the future equality of black Americans in both the military and society. The U.S. 332nd Fighter Group was called the "Red Tails" after the designation of its aircraft and was a true exception among other USAAF units. In fact, it was the only fighter group staffed entirely by black pilots.

The U.S. Army Air Force was an elite organization during World War II. In particular, the flight personnel saw themselves as the true leaders within the armed forces and the fighters as the elite among the elite. The USAAF was an almost homogeneous force, a white man's weapon that set the direction of the United States at the time. However, a numerically limited group of dark-skinned airmen also entered the fray. They were known as the Tuskegee Airmen, after the place where they received their flight training in the US. Organized into the 99th Fighter Squadron and later the 332nd Fighter Group, they managed to succeed on two completely different fronts. Not only did they hold their own in the tough battles with the German Luftwaffe, but they also prevailed in an equally grueling struggle with human stupidity.

They helped to break down the racist prejudice that black airmen were inferior to their white comrades in arms.
