The Bulova Lunar Pilot watch story
On August 2, 1971, a Bulova chronograph was deployed on the Moon, designed with the requirements of the lunar environment in mind. Now, Bulova returns to this design and updates it with an exclusive high-precision quartz movement, continuing the legacy of precision timekeeping with the Bulova Lunar Pilot men's chronograph from the Archive range.
The Lunar Pilot chronograph features the same 43.5mm stainless steel case in silver as the original Bulova chronograph. The chronograph's slim pushers and crown with the Bulova tuning logo are located at 3 o'clock. Beneath the flat sapphire crystal, the dial of the six-stage chronograph is rendered in a deep black colour evoking space, with bold white accents including the tachymeter ring and retro Bulova logo. The slim hands and applied markers offer exceptional legibility and are coated with a layer of super luminova for low-light viewing. Recessed circular grooved sub-dials include a 1/20th chronograph seconds counter at 3 o'clock, a running seconds hand at 6 o'clock and a 60-minute chronograph at 9 o'clock.
The Lunar Pilot is powered by Bulova's patented high-precision quartz movement, which resonates at 262khz for unparalleled precision. The watch is paired with a matching three-link silver stainless steel bracelet with a button deployant clasp and NATO leather strap, which features an easy-release system for quick change. The Bulova Lunar Pilot watch brings the past into the present with a design from the history of space exploration that is perfect for the modern adventurer.

Bulova: An Iconic Watch Brand with a Rich History and Innovations
Bulova is a renowned watch brand that has enjoyed worldwide popularity for over a century, thanks to its combination of elegance, innovation, and reliability. Its story begins in 1875 when founder Joseph Bulova opened a small watch shop in New York. Since then, the company has become synonymous with high-quality watchmaking and constant technological innovations that have shaped the world of watches.
Beginnings and Vision
Joseph Bulova was an immigrant from the Czech Republic with a deep passion for watchmaking. In his New York shop, he began crafting watches that quickly gained recognition for their precision and aesthetic beauty. His main philosophy was to bring not only high-quality standards to watchmaking but also innovations that would distinguish the brand from its competitors.
In 1912, Bulova established the first fully equipped watch factory in Switzerland, where he could control every aspect of production. This move was a significant milestone as Bulova became one of the first American companies to introduce mass production of precision watches.
Innovation as a Key to Success
Bulova became famous for numerous technological advancements that were crucial for the development of the watch industry. For example, in 1926, Bulova introduced the first-ever radio commercial, a revolutionary step in watch marketing. Their slogan, "At the tone, it's 8 PM, Bulova Watch Time," became iconic.
In 1960, Bulova launched the first electronic watch with a tuning fork oscillator, known as the Accutron. These watches were incredibly precise, and the technology was even used by NASA in its space programs. The Accutron watches, for instance, played a role in the Apollo 11 mission, showcasing their high level of reliability.
Design and Style
Bulova is known for its timeless and elegant design, characterized by intricate details and craftsmanship. The brand combines traditional watchmaking with modern elements, allowing it to appeal to various generations of customers. Its collections feature luxurious timepieces for special occasions as well as practical and durable models for everyday wear.
Over the years, Bulova has become a popular choice among celebrities, athletes, and professionals. The brand actively participates in various sporting and cultural events, further solidifying its reputation as a global leader in the watch industry.
Present and Future
Today, Bulova is part of the Japanese watchmaking giant Citizen, but it retains its American spirit and vision of innovation. The brand continues to develop new technologies and designs that reflect both its rich history and contemporary trends. Modern innovations include watches with Precisionist technology, offering some of the most accurate quartz watches on the market.
Bulova is also committed to sustainability and aims to contribute to environmental protection by using eco-friendly materials and production methods.
Conclusion
Bulova is a brand that boasts a rich history, groundbreaking innovations, and an unmistakable style. From Joseph Bulova’s humble beginnings to becoming a global watchmaking icon, the brand remains at the forefront due to its commitment to quality and innovation. Bulova watches are a symbol of precision, elegance, and technological progress, making them the ideal choice for anyone who appreciates top-tier watch craftsmanship.
