With over 130 years of history, Certina watches are a brand that has built a stable place in the market of quality Swiss watches thanks to their reliability, precision, and sporty character.
The company has used various names throughout its history. In the 1940s, it settled on the name Certina, which refers to the Latin word "certus", meaning certain. And it later translates this strength, i.e. certainty, reliability, and durability, into great concepts such as the highly successful DS concept.
The company produces highly shock-resistant watches with a water resistance of up to 20 bar. Over the years, the watches have thus been exposed to a wide range of extreme conditions, overcoming large pressure and temperature fluctuations. Whether it's serving on an expedition to the Himalayas or helping scientists stay under the sea in the Sealab II project, it's always an essential part of the team's basic equipment.
The brand is also establishing itself in the field of motorsport in the coming seasons, focusing on promoting this sporting environment. Certina supports the Sauber Petronas Formula 1 team or, for example, becomes the official timekeeper of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Names such as Certina Biostar, DS DiaMaster, DS Podium, the automatic movement Powermatic 80 with a power reserve of up to 80 hours, and the high-precision caliber Precidrive, will forever be part of watchmaking history, but also of the pursuit of constant technological progress.
The brand, with a turtle in its logo to evoke resilience, is also aware of its social responsibility, and one of its projects is to support the rescue of sea turtles or the use of recyclable materials in the manufacture of watch bands.
We can't help but wish Ave, Certus!
