The strap of this watch is made of vegan leather, which is 45% synthesised from vegetable oils. This watch is thus part of our Sustainable Planet programme, which aims to raise the profile of innovative technologies, products and companies. Nowadays, materials can increasingly be replaced by eco-friendly alternatives without compromise. The Sustainable Planet programme aims to inspire people to be open to these alternatives and to see a green future that is characterised by progress, not abandonment.

Under the name of the program "Polymers from Plants" we present the innovative company Coronet Spa. The company produces a special sustainable material, a vegan alternative to leather: BioVeg, which is used to make the strap of this watch.

BioVeg, which resembles soft leather in appearance and feel, is the result of more than four years of research and development. 45% of the polymers required are synthesised from vegetable oils, while the other 25% come from recycled plastics. BioVeg thus requires 70% less fossil resources than conventional synthetic leather, is also much more durable and saves a significant amount of CO2 emissions during production.

The vegetable oils are extracted from plants that are grown in special fields strictly without genetic engineering and are not suitable for consumption. One of the reasons why this material has a much smaller ecological footprint than conventional artificial leather.

Coronet Spa, an Italian company from Milan, has been producing high quality, innovative materials for more than 50 years, with the positive impact of society and the environment at the heart of its corporate philosophy. For example, 60% of all waste materials are recycled for energy purposes and 99% of all solvents are reclaimed. 80% of energy demand is met by the company's own electricity generation, such as its installed solar capacity of 1,177.00 kWp. This saves the Coronet Spa more than 1,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
