Inspired by an American hero, the AVI-8 Hitchcock Automatic pays tribute to the Lafayette Escadrille member and national polo champion who directly influenced the development of the P-51 Mustang during World War II.
The Hitchcock Automatic is made of stainless steel with a 43mm case size. The watch case is inspired by the P-51 Mustang, featuring a crown guard that resembles the exhaust of an aircraft engine. With a beautifully sculpted shape, it has been designed to look and feel comfortable.
Drawing on the cockpit and body of the P-51 Mustang, the Hitchcock series' multi-layered dial combines modern watchmaking sophistication with historic aviation elements to create a clear and legible dial.
The Hitchcock watch is powered by a precision automatic Japanese movement. As a tribute to Hitchcock's exploits outside the cockpit, the case back bears the inscription "Ten Goal Tommy", referring to his ten-goal handicap in polo.
The watch is secured on the wrist by our instantly recognisable padded genuine leather strap, inspired by the design of the P-51 Mustang aircraft seats.
Given his prominence and achievements in polo, the colours of the Hitchcock Automatic series watches are aptly inspired by the various polo clubs Hitchcock has represented over the years.
